On the morning of March 7th, the second plenary session of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference was held. Ma Jiantang, Vice Chairman of the Economic Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and former Party Secretary and Deputy Director of the Development Research Center of the State Council, gave a speech titled "Let the sunshine of people-oriented shine on every disabled elderly person.
Ma Jiantang pointed out that at present, China's aging population is deepening. In 2023, there will be 297 million people aged 60 and above in China, accounting for 21.1% of the total population. Among them, the proportion of disabled (dementia) elderly will be about 1/5, with a total of about 50 million people. These disabled elderly people find it difficult to live alone, and the families they care for are physically and mentally exhausted and overwhelmed. Many elderly people experience a decline in their quality of life and a loss of their dignity due to inadequate care.
Ma Jiantang emphasized that better meeting the care needs of disabled elderly, reducing the burden on family members, and improving the quality of life of the elderly have become prominent issues that urgently need to be addressed in China's elderly care service system.
Liangdu Human Resources and Social Security Vocational Skills Training Base - Kanglun Training Center
